Margaret M. Kraus, 93 years old of Jesup, IA, died Sunday, December 27, 2015, at her home.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. – Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA with burial in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30th at ST. ATHANASIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Parish Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.  Visitation will continue for half an hour before services Thursday at the church.  Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Catholic Church and School.

Margaret was born November 22, 1922, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Matt Kremer and Matilda (Lardy) Kremer.  She was the fifth child born, of twelve, in the Kremer family.  She was united in marriage to Ralph Theodore Kraus on June 29, 1941, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on March 17, 2006.

Margaret was a homemaker, avid gardener, amazing seamstress and mother to seven children.  She was a 50 year member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas chapter in Jesup.  She and her husband, Ralph, farmed near Jesup almost all of their lives.

Margaret is survived by three sons, James (Mona) of Rock Island, IL, Duane (Julie) of Jesup, IA, and Ralph Jr. (Karla) of Waterloo; three daughters, Janet Sivertson of Keosauqua, IA, Joyce Marie (Robert) Mellish of Jesup, IA, Marlene Hegg of Bettendorf, IA; daughter-in-law, Rachel Kraus of Davenport; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren; three sisters, Rita Kies of Jesup, IA, Theresa Serafini of Los Gatos, CA, Lucy (Jack) Toal of Tucson, AZ, two brothers, Matt (Joyce) Kremer of Garrison, IA and Robert (Ruth) Kremer of Corona, CA; brother-in-law, Paul Buhrow of Wylie, TX;

In addition to her husband, her parents; one son, Eugene Kraus (2012), two brothers, Joseph M. Kremer and Alfred Kremer; and four sisters, Marie Soteros, Agnes Meisch Helmers, Matilda (Tilly) Temeyer and Rose Buhrow preceded her in death.
