Jesup – Kathleen M. “Kate” Weber, 87 years old of Jesup, IA, died Saturday, January 18, 2014, at ABCM-West Village in Independence. She was born September 14, 1926, in Black Hawk County, near Gilbertville, the daughter of Peter Mangrich and Veronica (Huberty) Mangrich.  She married Francis Albert Weber on February 13, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Church, Gilbertville.  He preceded her in death on September 6, 1967.

Kate was a member of St. Athanasius Church, Jesup; and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court of St. Pius X #1714 of Jesup, Iowa.  She loved her family and her church community.  She enjoyed family functions, church bazaars, plays and basketball games at Don Bosco, coffee with neighbors, and living in Jesup.  She showed us all that there was always a way to get up in the morning and do what you have to do.

Kathleen is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Mike) Conter of Peosta, IA, and Sharon (Michael Roberto) Weber of Greensboro NC; one son, Douglas Weber (Deb McClain) of Fairbank IA; 8 grandchildren, Jill (Chad) Gehl, Betsy Conter, Mark Conter, Paul (Tricia) Conter, Tony (Rhonda) Weber, Brittany (Jeremiah Wilson) Weber, Courtney Weber, Mellany Weber; 2 step-grandchildren, Ana Roberto and Nathan (Martha) Roberto; 14 great-grandchildren, Madison, McKenna, Mia, Carter, Emma, Jordan, Ethan, Izzack, Dakota, Khia, Teegan, La’Mhiyah, Elijah and Ameliah; one brother, Roman (Toni) Mangrich of Lodi, CA; and one sister, Delores “Lori” (Carl) Schneider of Fairbank IA.

In addition to her husband, Francis; she was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Ida Phillips Mangrich; five brothers, Kenneth, Irvin, Donald J., LaVern, and Gerald Mangrich; and one great-grandson, Adden Weber.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. – Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with Fr. Scott Boone, officiating, Music will be by Monica Bengston, organist and the St. Athanasius Choir.  Casket Bearers will be Jill Gehl, Betsy Conter, Mark Conter, Paul Conter, Tony Weber, Brittany Weber, Courtney Weber and Mellany Weber.  Burial will be at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup. 

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Catholic Daughters Rosary and 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. 

Memorials may be directed to St. Athanasius Church in Jesup or to Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville.
