White Funeral Home CEDAR FALLS – Lyle R. Michels, 71 years old of Cedar Falls, IA, died Monday, November 12, 2012, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center, Waterloo, IA, of cancer. He was born December 6, 1940, in Buchanan County, IA, the son of Raphael Joseph Michels and Anna Mae (Sprage) Michels. He graduated from Independence High School in 1960 and then served in the US Navy. On June 11, 1966, He was united in marriage to Marcia Jo Hare in Independence. They have made their home in Cedar Falls since 1966. In 1984 Hawkeye Tool & Die, Inc. was founded in Jesup and Lyle became CEO and President of the business, which he remained active in until his death. Mr. Michels is survived by his wife, Marcia of Cedar Falls; two sons, Adam (Alison) Michels of Independence, IA, Lonny Michels of Jesup, IA; two grandchildren, Brandon and Jordan Michels; one brother, Walter (Jean) Michels of Phoenix, AZ; four sisters, Loretta Michels of Phoenix, AZ, Bertha Sepulveda of Dixon, IL, Rosalie Nielsen of Independence, IA; Dorothy Dame of Winton, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Clement, Norman, Bernard and Ronald Michels; three sisters, Eveline Wingert, Margaret Jenkins and Shirley Michels. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. – Friday, November 16, 2012, at Jesup Bible Fellowship in Jesup, IA, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence, IA. Military rites will be conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 P.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Friday at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the Honor Flight program. |
