White Funeral Home Independence – Donald Eugene Kelly, 75 years old of Independence, IA, died Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo due to complications from cancer. He was born December 28, 1936, in Waterloo, the son of Harold Defoe Kelly and Isabelle Agnes (Guynn) Kelly. He attended school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Waterloo, IA. On June 11, 1983, he was united in marriage to Lucretia “Lucy” Ann Acuff at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence, IA. Mr. Kelly was employed at John Deere Tractor Works for 32 years and was a member of UAW 838. He was an equipment manager for the Royal’s Drum & Bugle Corp. and was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, boating, wood cutting, and attending auctions. Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife, Lucy; 2 sons, Bradley (Warren) Halverson of MD, and Jordan Kelly of Independence; 1 daughter, Anna (Adam) Demuth of Independence; 2 grandchildren, Jameson and Jessen Demuth; 3 sisters, Joan Nielson of Waterloo, Mary Beth Meyer of Braham, MN, Susan (Lee) Bell of Billings, MT; 1 half brother Roy (Debbie) Kelly of Redding, CA; 3 half sisters, Mary (John) Massey of Clampet Falls, OR, Eileen Young of Shasta Lake City, CA, Ruby (Jim) Conners of Stockton, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Donna Dempster, 2 nephews, 2 nieces, his mother-in-law, Beverly Acuff, and 1 brother-in-law, Robert Nielson. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, IA, with Rev. Donald Plamondon as Celebrant. Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Jesup. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. Vigil Service. There will be no viewing at the church on Wednesday. Memorials will be directed to the family. |
