GILBERTVILLE – Gerald L. Fischels, 75 years old of Dumont, IA and formerly of Gilbertville, IA, died Friday, November 2, 2012, at the Dumont Wellness Center.  He was born June 4, 1937, in rural Black Hawk County, IA, the son of Joseph Michael Fischels and Florence Mary (Youngblut) Fischels.

Gerald is survived by three brothers, Joseph (Rosemary) Fischels of Gilbertville, IA, Ronald (Jackie) Fischels of Waterloo, IA, Cleo (Jane) Fischels of Jesup, IA; two sisters, Bonnie  Weber of Gilbertville, IA, Mary Ellen (Bob) Matthias of Waterloo, IA; a sister in law, Rosalie Fischels of Waterloo and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Melvin Fischels, and a brother in law, Leo Weber.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, IA with Fr. Henry P. Huber as celebrant.  Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Gilbertville, IA.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00p.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, IA, where there will be a Parish Rosary at 4:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials will be directed to  Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, IA; Dumont Wellness Center at Dumont, IA and to the Harmony House, Waterloo, IA.  White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA is in charge of the arrangements.
