Jesup – Margaret E. Soppe, 69 years old of Jesup, IA, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at her home following a lengthy illness.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Friday, October 26, 2012, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA with Fr. Scott F. Boone officiating.  Music will be by Monica Bengston, organist, Todd Rohlfsen, soloist and the St. Athanasius Choir.  Casket Bearers will be Chris Vieth, Cory Vieth, Adam Soppe, Austin Soppe, Tanner Neilsen and Carter Neilsen.  Burial will be at St. Athanasius Cemetery, Jesup, IA.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary led by the Catholic Daughters of America and a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service.  Visitation will continue for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Mrs. Soppe was born November 23, 1942, at Independence, IA the daughter of Harry Ned Jarrett and Velma Ortelia (Firth) Jarrett.  She graduated from Independence High School with the class of 1961.  On June 24, 1961, she was united in marriage to Kenneth John Soppe at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence.  He preceded her in death on November 19, 2004.  Margaret worked 30 plus years for Spahn & Rose Lumber in Jesup before retirement.  She was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America, Court of St. Pius X #1714 of Jesup.

Mrs. Soppe is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Paul) Wingert of Jesup, Trina (Todd) Neilsen of West Des Moines; two sons, Todd (Angie) Soppe of Jesup, Tom (Connie) Soppe of Jesup; 13 grandchildren; and one sister, Darlene (Jim) Phillips of Jesup.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
