White Funeral Home Independence – Stephen C. Snow, 67 years old, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2012 in Melbourne, after many years struggling with illness and chronic pain. He was a life-long resident of Iowa that moved to Florida to be closer to family. He was born on July 10, 1945, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Laurence Robert and Helen Henrietta (Anderson) Snow. He graduated from high school in Independence, Iowa, with the Class of 1963. He pursued a career in tool and die engineering and served his apprenticeship at Progressive Tool in Waterloo, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. On August 3, 1968, he and the former Bonnie Jean Schwartz were married in Chaska, Minnesota. Stephen owned and operated Snow Design and Engineering in Independence, IA until his passing. He was a kind, caring, and generous person. He loved to hunt, fish, and travel. He was a member of New Life Church in Viera, Florida, and made many new friends in Florida. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited and a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. Stephen is survived by his wife of 44 yrs, Bonnie Snow; his son, Craig (Jennifer) Snow, MD, of Melbourne, FL; his daughter, Amy (Todd) Federice of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Gerald (Kathleen) Snow of Wausau, WI; one sister, Karen Snow of Eden Prairie, MN; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence with Pastor Kurt Bockoven officiating. Music will be provided by Georgia Gray, organist, and Bonnie Nelson, vocal soloist. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence where a Military Service begins at 7 p.m. A Memorial Fund has been established for the Arthritis Foundation at 1025 Ashworth Road, Suite 505, West Des Moinse, Iowa, 50265. |
