White Funeral Home Independence – Vera Leora Robison, 103 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Buchanan County Health Center Long Term Care unit in Independence. She was born on July 12, 1909, in Buchanan County, Iowa, the daughter of Marshall Jocyrus and Grace Ethel (Lowery) Walton. She graduated from high school in Rowley, Iowa. On December 29, 1926, she and Lucius Samson Robison were married in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They farmed in Buchanan County until moving to Independence in 1981. He preceded her in death in 1985. Mrs. Robison was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence, the Spencer’s Grove Club, and the Royal Neighbors. She was an antique collector and enjoyed attending local auctions. In years past she enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Mrs. Robison is survived by 2 sons, Robert (Betty) Robison of Walker, Iowa, and Dean (Lynda) Robison, of Dysart, Iowa, 1 daughter, Delores (Ed) Armstrong of Independence, Iowa, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, and 2 great great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Harlan Walton and Milton Walton, and 4 sisters, Edna Hodgins, Irma Deke, Ola Kruse, and Ruby Huyck. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Independence with Rev. Scott Meador officiating. Casket Bearers will be Rob Yeisley, Travis Grover, Terry Folken, Tim Folken, Luke Folken, Mark Lappe, John Lappe, Cody Robison, James Bumgarner, Mitchel Bumgarner, and Alex Bumgarner. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. The family will greet friends at the church after 1 p.m. on Saturday. |
