White Funeral Home Waterloo – Sherry Marlene Thomas, 54 years old, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at her home following a sudden illness. She was born on October 13, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Archie Delmar and Joan Marlene (Fowlkes) Thomas, Sr. She graduated from high school in Independence, Iowa, with the class of 1976. Ms. Thomas was a renovation and relocation specialist and housing inspector for the City of Waterloo. She retired in 2003. She attended the First Baptist Church in Independence, Iowa. Ms. Thomas enjoyed her family and friends, flower gardening, and her dog, Katie. Most of her free time was filled with her second career which was renovating older homes for resale. Ms. Thomas is survived by 2 sons, Eric L. Thomas of Jesup, Iowa, and William Welch of Waterloo, 1 granddaughter, Lillian Bagby of Evansdale, Iowa, her parents, Joan and Archie Thomas, Sr., of Waterloo, 2 sisters, her twin, Terry Mochal and Karrie Holt, both of Waterloo, and 2 brothers, Howard (Diane) Thomas and Archie Thomas, Jr., both of Independence, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Independence with Dr. David A. Larson officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence. |
