Independence – Jack Dean Kennett, 59 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. He was born on January 22, 1953, in Independence, the son of Arthur Frederick and Violet Mae (Postel) Kennett. He attended school in Independence. He was a maintenance worker at Iowa Engineered Processes in Independence before his health forced him to retire in 2001. In his spare time Mr. Kennett was involved in stock car racing and he also restored cars and trucks. Mr. Kennett is survived by 1 daughter, Jennifer Altoff of Marion, Iowa, 2 sons, Jeff Kennett and Justin Kennett both of Waterloo, Iowa, 3 grandchildren, 6 sisters, Janis Thompson, Jaynie Pint, Joan Roscovius Winkowski, and Jeanie Morris, all of Independence, Iowa, Jill Matin of Illinois, and Jeannette Duffy of Fairbank, Iowa, and 1 brother, Jerry Kennett of Walford, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Jim, John, and Joe Kennett. Memorial Services will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Dr. David A. Larson officiating. His cremated remains will be interred at the Cremation Garden at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation after 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
