Independence – Sadie Erdmann, 84 years old, died on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at her home in Independence, Iowa. She was born on June 7, 1927, in Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii, the daughter of Siekichi and Tsuruko (Okuda) Hiraoka. She graduated from the Kauai High School with the Class of 1946. On September 9, 1950, she and Harvey Marcus Erdmann were married in Honolulu, Hawaii. He preceded her in death in 1985. Mrs. Erdmann and her husband lived in the islands until 1954, when they moved to Wausau, Wisconsin. In Wausau, Mrs. Erdmann was an alteration seamstress and milliner at a bridal and formal wear shop until retiring in 1987. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence.
Mrs. Erdmann is survived by 2 brothers, Kazunori Hiraoka of Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii, and Paul Hiraoka of El Monte, California, and several nieces and nephews, including Lauren (Steve) Waskow of Independence, Iowa.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Scott Erdmann, 2 sisters, and 1 brother.
Private Memorial Services will be held at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Pastor Kurt Bockoven officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau, Wisconsin.
