Jesup – Arnold W. “Arnie” Weber, 88 years old of Jesup, IA, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo, IA, of natural causes. He was born August 4, 1923, the son of Albert M. Weber and Loretta E. (Kies) Weber. On January 5, 1944, he was united in to marriage with Camilla L. Delagardelle, in Gilbertville, IA.
Arnold served in the Army during World War II and then farmed in the Jesup area where he and Camilla raised their family. Later, he worked at the East Central Iowa Co-op in Jesup until his retirement at the age of 84. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup and Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post 714 in Gilbertville. Arnold especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Camilla; 2 sons, Michael “Mick” (Karen) of Gilbertville and Randy (Janan) of Raymond; 2 daughters Sandra “Sandy” (David) Beyer of Waterloo and Rosie (Bob) Bloes of Gilbertville; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Ronald (Arlene) of Jesup and Laverne (Janice) of Gilbertville; 4 sisters, Ella (Tony) Even of Gilbertville, Norma Schares of La Porte City, Doris (Bernard) Brown of Dunkerton, LaVonne (Don) Friedly of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Leo, Cleo, Raphael, and Stanley; and 2 sisters, Magdaline Wirtz and Betty Dilley.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Gilbertville. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, where Rosaries will be recited at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to St. Athanasius Church and Cedar Valley Hospice.
