White Funeral Home Jesup – Arnold J. Kass, 90 years old of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, February 23, 2012, at West Village Care Center, Independence, IA, of natural causes. He was born December 11, 1921, in Orleans, NE, the son of Charles P. Kass and Mary Ann (Thoma) Kass. Following his service in the US Army during WWII, Arnold farmed until his health prevented him. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, and Pump-Scheer American Legion Post #342 of Jesup. Mr. Kass is survived by his twin brother, Arthur Kass of Dunkerton, IA, and one sister, Mathilda “Tillie” Phillips of Independence, IA and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kass of Cedar Falls, IA. Preceding him in death were his parents, five sisters, Rosa Ambrosy Barth, Armella Sadler, Marcella Ambrosy, Philomena Phillips, Magdalene Koehler and two brothers, Alfred Kass and Raymond Kass. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with Fr. Kenneth C. Stecher as celebrant. Monica Bengston, organist; Todd Rohlfsen, soloist and the St. Athanasius Choir will provide the music. Casket bearers will be Kenny Kass, Jerry Kass, Don Kass, Chuck Phillips, LeRoy Sadler, and John Phillips. Burial will be at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup, IA, with military rites conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup. |
