Jesup – Madeline Marie Steinbron, 88 years old of Jesup, IA, died Friday, February 24, 2012, at the Buchanan County Health Center’s Long Term Care Unit in Independence, IA, following a lengthy illness. She was born February 2, 1924, in Orange Township of Black Hawk, County, IA, the daughter of Harry Shatzer and Mary (Schnell) Shatzer. The family moved to Jesup and Madeline graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1942. She and Maurice Allen Steinbron were married later that year, July 12, 1942, in Jesup. They farmed together and raised their family. Madeline’s loves included, cake decorating, growing flowers and gardening, collecting dolls, raising her family and enjoying the grandchildren. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jesup.
Mrs. Steinbron is survived by three daughters, Judy (John) Beierschmitt of Jesup, IA, Debbie (Mike) Denton of Independence, IA, Cindy (Kent) Halder of Jesup, IA; one son, David (Julie) Steinbron of Jesup, IA; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Eileen Mount of Jesup, IA; one brother, Robert (Patricia) Shatzer of Jesup, IA. In addition to her husband, Maurice, who died November 3, 1986; she is preceded in death by her parents; one son Gary Allen Steinbron; three brothers, Orville Shatzer, Everette Shatzer, Harry Shatzer; and two sisters, Florence Weatherman and Elva Kirk.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. – Monday, February 27, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA, with Rev. Lynn C. Gardner and Rev. David Steinbron officiating. Burial will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo, IA. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and also for an hour before services Monday at the church.
A memorial fund has been established.
