Independence – Donna Jean Wilson, 83 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She was born on May 5, 1928, in Ainsworth, Nebraska, the daughter of Thomas Bonnell and Alma Elizabeth (Hanson) Bond. She graduated from high school in Independence, Iowa, with the Class of 1945. On September 11, 1949, she and Dean Parks Wilson were married at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. He preceded her in death in 2006. Mrs. Wilson was a secretary and bookkeeper for the Independence Dairy, the R.E.C., American Cyanamid, and Midwest Wood Products. She retired in 1993. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and took part in many of the other church group activities. She especially enjoyed the quilting group. She looked forward to visiting with and spoiling (just a little) her grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson also attended the grandchildren’s school musical events. She enjoyed watching Hawkeye sports and golf on TV. Mrs. Wilson is survived by 3 sons, Thomas (Judy) Wilson of Robins, Iowa, Robert Wilson of Decorah, Iowa, and Roger (Diane) Wilson, of Independence, Iowa, 1 daughter, Jane (Keith) Rottinghaus of Jesup, Iowa, 13 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 6 step great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Dolores (Chuck) Runyan of West Hills, California, and Nancy (John) Gaul of Independence, Iowa, 1 brother, John (Laura) Bond of Ft. Myers, Florida, and 1 sister-in-law, Elaine Bond Schuman of Independence, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Robert Bond and Ronald Bond, and 1 daughter-in-law, Lynette Wilson. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence with Pastor Kurt Bockoven officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 1st, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
