Quasqueton - Richard Wayne Lee, 76 years old, of Quasqueton, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, Iowa. He was born on October 17, 1935, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Ned Ira and Helen Ruth (McGilligan) Lee. He attended school in Dunkerton, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On December 31, 1953, he and the former Lavonne Eleanor Jennings were married at the 1st Baptist Church in Independence, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1998. Mr. Lee worked in several different positions at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before retiring in 1989. He enjoyed taking care of his dog and tinkering with all things mechanical. Farmall tractors were especially important. He was a member of the Cedar Rock American Legion Post 434 in Quasqueton.
Mr. Lee is survived by 4 sons, Wayne (Sue) Lee of Bloomington, Minnesota, Mike (Vicki) Lee of Rowley, Iowa, Curtis (Marsha) Lee of Oelwein, Iowa, and John (Vanessa) Lee of Quasqueton, Iowa, 14 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 brother, Dale Lee of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and his Special Friend, Becky Jorgenson of Quasqueton, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, James Lee, 3 brothers, Robert Lee, James Lee, and Don Lee, and 1 sister, Betty Sands.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at the White Funeral Home in Quasqueton, Iowa, with Rev. Kevin Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Quasqueton Cemetery in Quasqueton with military rites provided by the Cedar Rock American Legion Post #434. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011, at the funeral home.
