White Funeral Home Gilbertville – Gilbertville – Arnold Joseph Frost, 92 years old of Gilbertville, IA, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, IA. He was born September 26, 1919, on the family farm near Gilbertville, son of Michael Joseph Frost and Clara Anna (Reuter) Frost. He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Gilbertville. On June 2, 1943, he married Rosemary Margaret Schmitt at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein, IA. Arnold served in the Army during WWII as a surgical technician fourth grade for the 38th field hospital and was discharged in 1945. He worked in the Smoke House at Rath Packing in Waterloo, IA and also farmed east of Gilbertville from 1948 – 1982. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Catholic Order of Foresters Court #1099, and a charter member of Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post #714, all in Gilbertville. Mr. Frost is survived by four daughters, Alicia Frost of Waterloo, IA, Margo (Ken Hoff) Spurrier of Casper, WY, Carla Boekelman of Madrid, IA, Paula (Gene) Even of Gilbertville, IA; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene Frost of Waterloo, IA, Gerald (Rosemary) Frost of Hiawatha, IA, Jerome (Donna) Frost of Readlyn, IA; two sisters, Theresa O’Connell of Waterloo, IA and Lucille Mangrich of Gilbertville, IA. In addition to his wife, Rosemary, who died October 28, 2002, he is preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Andrea Even; and two brothers, Ray Frost and Andrew Frost. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, IA with Fr. Henry P. Huber officiating. Casket Bearers will be Jeremy Boekelman, Peter Boekelman, Christopher Even, Wesley Even, Russell Even, and Matthew Even. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Gilbertville, IA, with Military rites conducted by Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post #714. |
