Jesup – Cynthia L. Close, 58 years old of Jesup, IA, died Sunday, December 11, 2011, at her home from cancer. She was born January 18, 1953, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of John Charles Fuller and Mary Rose (Appelhans) Fuller. She attended Wapsie Valley High School at Fairbank and graduated with the class of 1971.
On December 26, 1970, she was united in marriage to Albert Jerry Close in Fairbank, IA. They have made their home in Jesup since 1976. Cindy was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA and had worked at the dog track in Waterloo, Casey’s General Store and Spahn & Rose Lumber in Jesup. She enjoyed spending time with family and reading. Camping, boating and motorcycles were also things she enjoyed.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Albert “Al”; one son, Corie (Jodie) Close; two daughters, Channon (Jim) Dwyer; and Carrie Wirtz, all of Jesup, IA; also seven grandchildren; one brother, Greg (Lynette) Fuller of Fairbank; and one sister, Sandy Chapman of Oklahoma.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Chad Close; and three brothers, Richard, Ronald and Robert Fuller.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Thursday, December 15, 2011, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with Fr. Kenneth C. Stecher officiating. Music will be by Monica Bengston, organist; Monty Trask, soloist and the St. Athanasius Choir. Casket Bearers will be Ed Close, Tyson, Fuller, Jason Fuller, Kale Simmerson, John Murray and Brian Niemeyer. Burial will be at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup, IA. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 14th at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
Memorials will be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice and to St. Athanasius Church.
