Dunkerton– Brenda June (Newsom) Speed, 70, of Dunkerton, went home to be with her heavenly father on Monday, November 21, 2011.

She was born June 17, 1941, in Iowa City, daughter of Ira and Josephine (Hirsch) Newsom. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Newman Mortenson. She married Bob Speed on May 10, 1959, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua.

She and her husband, Bob, owned and operated Twin Cities Concrete Systems, retiring in 2007. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Elk Run Heights, Dunkerton Red Hat Chix, Dunkerton Senior Group and several card clubs.

Survived by: her husband; three daughters, Barb (Greg) Sweerin of Evansdale, Becky (Ron) Reichen of Dunkerton and Bonita (Danny) Schubert of Blue Earth, MN; one son, Bryan (Amy) of Cascade; thirteen grandchildren, Chris (Sara), Brianne (Ray), Cory, Jenny (Kirby), Danny, Ben, Mackenzie, Dakota, Alex, Lydia, Jordan, Rachel and Keegan; three great grandchildren, Kiley, Madalyn and Dylan; one brother, Virgil (Barbara) Mortenson of Lancaster, OH; two sisters-in-law, Ann Newsom of Dunkerton, Marie Speer of Huxley; one brother-in-law, Earl Bartholomew of Dunkerton; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by: her mother; father; step-father; one great-grandson, Kyler Lane Kelling; two brothers, Don and Bob Newsom; five sisters, Betty Tidemann, Francis Kuenstling, Mary Faust, Irene Bartholomew and Ilene Hauptly.

Services: 10:30 a.m. - Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Faith Assembly of God Church, Elk Run Heights, with inurnment in the Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm, Friday, November 25th at White Funeral Home in Jesup and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Faith Assembly of God Church building fund.
