Waterloo - Dean Edward Emme, 58 years old, of Waterloo, IA, died Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo of an apparent heart attack. He was born June 13, 1953, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Robert Edward Emme & Lydia (Gjovig) Emme.
Mr. Emme graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1971 and then attended Hawkeye Technical College for Electronics. He worked with electronics at Viking Pump, Southwestern Bell, and IBM before returning home to work with his family at Waterloo Motor Winding. He also participated in the YMCA’s Y’s Men Club.
Mr. Emme is survived by his parents Robert & Lydia Emme of Jesup, IA; 1 brother, Dennis Emme of Jesup, IA; 4 sisters, Dian Hovey, of Sandy, UT, Susan Emme, of Jesup, IA, Kim (Tim) Vosnos, of West Chicago, IL, and Lisa Emme, of Elm Hurst, IL; also a nephew Daniel Hovey of Rochester, NY, a niece Renee (Shawn) Milne of Toolee, UT; 3 aunts, Darlene Reinhardt of Jesup, IA, Elinore Gjovig of Cascade, CO, and Helen Gjovig of Coralville, IA.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward & Nora Emme and Olaf & Bertha Gjovig, and a nephew Brian Hovey.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the White Funeral Home in Jesup, IA, with Pastor Dawn Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Crest Cemetery in Jesup, IA. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established.
