Jesup – Clarence Joseph “Casey” Kerkove 79 years old of Jesup, IA, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at his home following a lengthy illness.  He was born June 17, 1932, in Jesup the son of Frederick Nicholas Kerkove and Helen Anna (Even) Kerkove.  He graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1950.  On January  19, 1957, he was united in marriage to Elsie Mae Cue at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein, IA.  He was employed by John Deere in Waterloo, IA before retirement and was a member of UAW Local 838 in Waterloo.  He also was a professional truck driver and drove part time for Ruan Transport.  Casey was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup.

Mr. Kerkove is survived by his wife, Elsie of Jesup; one son, Dennis (Melodee) Kerkove of Jesup, IA; two daughters, Diane (Michael) Bender of Farmington, MO; Deb (Don) McLaury of Jesup, IA; 7 grandchildren; one sister, Gladys (James) Shields of Fairbank, IA; one brother, Leo (Beverly) Kerkove of Independence, IA.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ferde Kerkove and two sisters, Joan Delagardelle and Sharon Sinclair.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. – Saturday, October 8, 2011, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA with Fr. Kenneth C. Stecher officiating. Monica Bengston, organist, Todd Rohlfsen, soloist and the St Athanasius Choir will provide the music.  Burial will be at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup, IA.  Casket Bearers will be, Justin Kerkove, Brad McLaury, Jake Bender, Tyler Bender, Mike Bender and Don McLaury.  Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA where there will be a Parish Rosary at 3:00 pm and Vigil Service at 7: 00 p.m. Friday.  Visitation will continue for an hour before services Saturday at the church.  Memorials will be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice.
