Jesup – Stephen Kroy Bahl, 63 years old died Monday, October 03, 2011, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, IA, where he was a resident. Formerly of Jesup, IA, he was born April 17, 1948, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Norbert Francis Bahl and Henrietta Louise (Roedel) Bahl. He lived with his family for over 47 years, receiving wonderful care from his loving parents. When they were no longer able to care for Stephen, he moved to the health care center where he continued to receive quality care from a loving staff. He was truly a gift from God and he brought joy to everyone who cared for and knew him.
Stephen is survived by one sister, Frances (Theodore) King of Davenport, IA; one brother, Martin (Rhonda) Bahl of Baltimore, MD; two nieces, Jennifer (Brian Overington) King of Washington, DC, Elizabeth King of Davenport, IA; two nephews, Michael King of Washington, DC, Andrew Bahl of Baltimore, MD; also his special longtime care giver, Joan (Dennis) Kessens of Jesup, IA.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1995 and his father in 2010.
Public Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m. – Saturday, October 8, 2011, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA with Fr. Kenneth C. Stecher and Msgr. Carl L. Schmitt as concelebrants. Music will be by Brett Hershberger, and the St. Athanasius Choir.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Memorials will be directed to Camp Courageous of Iowa at Monticello.
Private family burial services will be at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, before services Saturday at the church, with Msgr. Carl L. Schmitt officiating.
