Dunkerton – Kenneth F. Risse, 93 of Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, Waterloo and formerly of rural Dunkerton, IA, died early Friday, November 4, 2011, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.  He was born March 10, 1918, in Black Hawk County, IA, the son of Frank Risse and Katherine (Meier) Risse.  On September 1, 1944, he was united in marriage to Carrie Virginia Ritchie at St John’s Catholic Church, Waterloo, IA.  She preceded him in death on May 15, 2003.  Kenneth began farming at a young age and continued until late in life.  In addition to farming, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and All Star Wrestling.  Mr. Risse was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church – Barclay, rural Dunkerton, IA.

Mr. Risse is survived by one daughter, Bonnie (John) Forbes of Waterloo; four sons, Robert (Kathy) Risse of Waterloo, Steven (Nancy) Risse of Dysart, IA, Mike (Tammie) Risse of Waterloo, Rodney Risse of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great granddaughter and one sister, Fedelis Reuter of Jesup. Additional survivors include sisters-in-law, Harriett Risse of Readlyn; Janice Risse of Waverly; Mary Risse of Dunkerton and Avis Muether of Waterloo.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and three brothers, Gerald, Wilbur and Eugene Risse.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Monday, November 7, 2011, at St. Francis Catholic Church – Barclay, rural Dunkerton, IA, with Fr. Kenneth C. Stecher officiating.  Music will be by Monica Bengston, organist and the St. Francis Choir.  Casket Bearers will be Tom Risse, Jeff Risse, Mike Risse, Dave Risse, Travis Risse, John Forbes and Josh Forbes.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday November 6th at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, starting at 3:00 p.m. with a Parish Rosary and concluding with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials will be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
