Independence – Mary Ann Benton, 49 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at the Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo, Iowa.  She was born on April 4, 1962, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond F. and Raydell K. (Sweat) Beck.  She attended school in Independence, Iowa.  On June 27, 1987, she and Frank Delbert Benton were married in Rowley, Iowa.  Mrs. Benton enjoyed family activities (particularly activities with her grandson), her cats, cooking, and playing cards.  She especially loved the Christmas holidays with all of the songs, movies, and decorating.

Mrs. Benton is survived by her husband, Frank, 2 sons, Steven Benton of Independence, Iowa, and Duane Benton of Evansdale, Iowa, 1 daughter, Nikki Benton of Independence, Iowa, and 1 grandson, Hayden Benton.  She is also survived by 1 brother, Ron Beck of Oelwein, Iowa, 2 sisters, Ruth (Roger) Lynn of Independence, Iowa, and Nancy Beck of Sterling, Illinois, and 2 half sisters, Julie (Craig) Spece of Independence, Iowa, and Liza Marino of Sterling, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, John Beck.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Dr. David A. Larson officiating.  Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Independence.  Friends may call for visitation from 12 noon on Thursday, Aug. 11th, until service time.
