Independence – Beulah Ann Harmon, 84 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at her home following a sudden illness. She was born in Independence on March 23, 1927, the daughter of Albert Henry and Beulah May (Tibbetts) Ward. On August 31, 1947, she and Delmar Harmon were married at the Albert Ward home in Independence. He preceded her in death in 1998. Mrs. Harmon was a dietician with several institutions before retiring in 2001. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Independence and Chapter BD P.E.O. in Independence. She was a former member of the Independence Community Band and also enjoyed playing the piano and playing bridge.
Mrs. Harmon is survived by 2 sons, Steven Harmon of Irvington, New Jersey, and Roger (Theresa) Harmon of Houston, Texas, 1 daughter, Janet (Chuck) Keillor of Lake Jackson, Texas, and 2 grandchildren, Russell Keillor and Lauren Keillor.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Tom Harmon, 1 sister, Agnes McAllister, and 1 brother, Chuck Ward.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence, Iowa, with Rev. John Hougen officiating. Casket Bearers will be Chuck Keillor and Roger Harmon. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Independence, Iowa. Friends may call for visitation from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence where a P.E.O. service begins at 4 p.m.
