Independence – Keith Edward “Casey” Clough, 72 years old, of rural Independence, Iowa, died on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. He was born on May 3, 1939, in Donnan, Iowa, the son of Lloyd Wilbur and Mildred Jean (Hennager) Clough. In 1957 he graduated from high school in Independence and finished his B.A. degree at the Upper Iowa University (where he was a member of the football team) in Fayette in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army. On April 10, 1965, he and the former Marleen Rae Salocker were married at the First Christian Church in Perry, Iowa. Mr. Clough was a 7th grade science teacher in Independence and he also was a coach for Middle School football, track, and wrestling. He retired in 1997. Mr. Clough was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence and the National Education Association. He also raised various types of livestock, including ostriches and homing pigeons. He was a member of the Indee 500 Pigeon Group.
Mr. Clough is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marleen, 1 son, Brent Clough of Dallas, Texas, 1 daughter, Lindy Hughes of Dubuque, Iowa, 4 grandchildren, and 1 brother, Ronald (Judy) Clough of Danbury, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Barbara Tweedie.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Independence with Rev. Scott Meador officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
