Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Monday, September 28, 2026, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2026, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a rosary said at 3:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 6:00 p.m. Georgia was born February 23, 1927, in Jesup, Iowa, the daughter of Jake and Elizabeth (Tix) Ehr. She graduated from Jesup High School in 1944. On November 12, 1949, she was united in marriage to Richard Yount. They lived in Marshalltown, IA, La Crosse, WI, St Paul, MN, and Waterloo, IA. They moved to Jesup in 1970. She worked at John Deere in Waterloo, and Lennox in Marshalltown. Most of her time was dedicated to raising her family and volunteering. She was active in her community and church. She made friends no matter where she lived, no matter what age. Georgia moved to Ankeny in 2025. Georgia is survived by her six children, Vicky (Bob) Ryherd, Jim Yount, Bob (Paula) Yount, Bill (Annette) Yount, John (Betsy) Yount and Mary (Craig) Clark; eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Nicholas Ehr; and a sister Marie Gaffney. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jesup Public Library or Jesup Fire Department. White Funeral Home, Jesup, Iowa, is caring for the family. |
