Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. – Monday, August 3, 2026, at the Quasqueton Union Church, in Quasqueton, Iowa, with Pastor Bill Crow officiating, followed by a light lunch. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg, Iowa. Visitation will be for an hour before services at the church. Angie was born April 11, 1930, in a small farmhouse outside of Ackley, Iowa, the daughter of Arend and Angelina (Harken) Kannegieter. She attended school in Parkersburg, Iowa, and moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa, with her family during her teen years. Circumstances beyond her control prevented her from graduating high school, but later in life, she was determined to obtain her GED and proudly accomplished her goal in the winter of 1982. On December 11, 1952, she was united in marriage to Kenneth M. Palmer in LaGrange, Indiana. The couple moved back home to Eastern Iowa and settled in rural Quasqueton, where they raised their family and farmed for over 65 years. Angie found work off the farm too. She worked at Microswitch in Independence and as the Postmaster in Rowley, Iowa, for over 16 years. Her genuine interest in people, coupled with her quick wit, charm, and keen social skills, made her the perfect person for the job. Angie had many interests and hobbies that included painting, arranging flowers, and breeding Australian Cattle Dogs. She was very active in the community and was a member of the Quasqueton Federated Garden Club, Quasqueton Union Church, and long-time supporter of the Buchanan County Fair. Angie is survived by her 2 children, Steve (Patti) Palmer of Springfield, Missouri, and LuAnn (Tim) Kadlec of West Des Moines, Iowa; 6 grandchildren, Brandon Palmer, Trent (Danielle) Palmer, Cicely (Nathan) Flowers, Olivia Tebben, Taylor (Marc) Ellingson, Jordan (Paige) Kadlec; 12 great grandchildren, Grayson, Hudson, Miriya, Ravyn, Leo, Elijah, Lars, Soren, Emma, George, Harvey, and Frankie; and many nieces and nephews. Angie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Palmer; two brothers, Cornelius “Bud” Kannegieter, Marvin Kannegieter; and one sister, Pearl Mitchell. Memorials may be directed to the church. Condolences may be placed at www.White-MtHope.com. White Funeral Home, Independence is caring for the family. |
