Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Friday, May 29, 2026, at St. John Catholic Church, Independence, with the Very Rev. David M. Beckman as celebrant. Burial will be at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2026, at White Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be a parish rosary said at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services, Friday, at the church. Julia was born, December 29, 1934, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Hattie Frances (Kraft) Manley. She attended school in Oelwein where she was raised. In 1951 she was united marriage to Marlin Albert Fuller at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waterloo. Marlin preceded her in death in 1981. Julia was a homemaker and focused her attention on raising her five daughters, Nancy, Connie, Debra, Jean, and Diana. Julia devoted her life to her faith and her family. She was generous with her time and efforts in making everyone feel welcome and well fed. Cooking was a favorite pastime and she was always looking for new recipes to try. She loved going on shopping trips and finding good deals, especially at garage sales. Though she didn’t drive all that much, she had a great memory for driving directions and could always remember how to get back to a destination without a map. Julia loved staying connected with her family, making multiple phone calls throughout the day. She especially loved keeping up with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and all the activities they were involved in. She had a central presence in their lives, and they were the highlight of hers. Julia is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Mark) Unger of Akeley, Minnesota, Connie (Jack) O’Day of Waterloo, Debra (Bob) Neblock of Independence, Jean (Andrew Hazen) Moffett of Independence, Diana (Troy) Trask of Wellsburg, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Janice) Manley of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marlin Fuller; and four brothers, Kenneth Manley, in infancy, Francis Manley, Paul Manley, and David Manley. Memorials will be directed to St. John Catholic Church. White Funeral Home, Independence, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. |
