Private burial took place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. JoAnn was born June 29, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur Fred “Art” and Fern Anna (Schmidt) Pump. She grew up in rural La Porte City, Iowa, and attended school in La Porte City. On February 8, 1959, she was united in marriage to James Leo “Jim” Edgeton in Independence. Together they owned and operated Edgeton Sanitation. She liked her pets and loved her grandchildren. The simple things in life were what mattered most to her. She was a member at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. JoAnn is survived by her husband, Jim of Independence; two daughters, Pamela (Rick) Rasmussen and Connie (Craig) Price, all of Independence; two grandchildren, Candice (Zac Behrends) Miller of Waverly, Iowa, and Chad (Aida) Price of Independence; four great-grandchildren, E.J. Miller, Easten Miller, Theo Price, and Emilia Price. She is also survived by special friends, Brian Miller, Gavin Reck, and Gracee Cornwell. Her parents preceded her in death.
