Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Monday, April 20, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA, with burial at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Sunday, April 19, 2026, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, and continue for an hour before services Monday at the church. Memorials will be directed to the First United Methodist Church and Cedar Valley Hospice. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com. Darrell was born to Carl John and Hazel Bertha (Teepe) in Oelwein, Iowa on January 11, 1934, the first of seven children. Darrell started school in Oelwein, country school in Littleton, Iowa and graduated from Jesup High School in 1953. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1953 until 1955. On September 15, 1957, he was united in marriage to Joan Lorraine Kress at the First United Methodist Church in Independence. They were the parents of three sons: Bruce, born in 1961, Todd, in 1965 and Troy, in 1970. All survive him. Darrell worked at the Rath Packing Company in the Smoke House before and following his service in the Army until the company closure. He then did siding and roofing around the area before being employed by IBP in Waterloo, where he retired from. After his retirement he worked for several years at the Isle Casino and Hotel in Waterloo before his final retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jesup and a Life Member of the Hook-n-Liner Club in Littleton. Darrell is survived by his three sons, Bruce, Todd (Shelli) and Troy (Donna) Pint, all of Jesup. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Erica (Matt) Brandt, Daniel Hufferd, Forrest (Reagan) Maxson, McKenzie Pint, Dayla (Marshall) Karr, Laney (Zach Purdy) Gray and Carley Jo Pint. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Aubree Brandt, Ezra, Saylor and Lincoln Karr, Oz Maxson and Harper Purdy. With another Maxson grandchild on the way. He is also survived by sisters, Carol Jean (Bud Anderman) Zingg and Judy (Richard) Norris, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan, brothers, Dean, Delbert and Clifford, and his sister Darlene McLaughlin. White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, is in charge of the arrangements. |
