Greyson was born on April 24, 2021, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Connor Engel and RiLynn Bergmann. At the age of two, he was diagnosed with metachromatic leukodystrophy.

Though his time here was brief, Greyson was a bright light to his family and to all who knew him. He had a remarkable way of bringing people together and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His infectious smile, spirited personality, and joyful laughter will be deeply missed.

Greyson found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—M&M’s, chocolate chip cookies, cheering for the Chicago Bears, football, Woody and Buzz, and most of all, time spent with his family.

He is lovingly remembered by his mother, RiLynn Bergmann of Reinbeck; his father, Connor Engel of Reinbeck; his maternal grandparents, Tiffany and Zachery Buchheit of Reinbeck and Andy Bergmann of Janesville; his maternal aunts, Nevada Buchheit and Madison Bergmann of Reinbeck; his maternal uncles, JB, Ryder, and Lane Buchheit of Reinbeck; his maternal great-aunts and uncles, Christy and Zach (Everly) Kelly of Cedar Falls, Kelsey and Ryan (Caleb, McCoy, Elliott) Hagen of Cresco, and Andy and Kayla (Abbi) Buchheit of Reinbeck; his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Kelly Engel of Reinbeck; his paternal uncle, Cole Engel of Reinbeck; his maternal great-grandparents, Barbara Bigler of Waterloo, David Bigler of Evansdale, and Alan and Kendra Buchheit of Show Low, Arizona; his paternal great-grandparents, Tom and Rhonna Bergmann of Waverly and Penny Engel of Hudson; and his devoted nurses, Gracie Lackey of Waterloo and Mcklaye Wilson of Aplington.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Theresa Buchheit; and his paternal great-grandparents, David Engel and Jeff and Kathryn Hamlett.

Greyson will be forever held in the hearts of those who loved him.
