Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. - Thursday, March 19, 2026, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup, Iowa. Kris was born January 23, 1954, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Raphael Nicholas “Ray” and Cleo Elizabeth (Kane) Youngblut. She attended school in Jesup, Iowa, and graduated high school with the class of 1973. On July 21, 1973, Kris was united in marriage to Joseph Donald Vogel at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Raymond, Iowa. They made their home on a farm north of Jesup, in rural Waterloo. Kris worked with Joe on the farm but also worked for Fareway Grocery Stores for 43 years. She started at the Independence, Iowa, store, and after 17 years, moved to the Cedar Falls, Iowa, store. She was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup. Kris was a go-getter. She loved to stay busy and had many talents. Kris liked woodworking projects, doing house renovations, sewing, cooking, baking, and being outdoors- gardening and helping on the farm. Kris was quiet, but she was not afraid to speak her mind when it was warranted. She was determined, independent, and always persevered with courage when she was met with challenging times. She was a great listener and listened to genuinely hear you and understand your concerns. Family and church were the most important things in Kris’s life. She loved to be part of all her children and grandchildren’s activities. Kris is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joe Vogel of rural Waterloo; her children, Kelly (Mark) Pint of Center Point, Iowa, Quent (Haley) Vogel of rural Waterloo, Jill (Sean) Johnson of Independence, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Joe (Betty) Youngblut of Jesup, Dave (Kim) Youngblut of Raymond, Iowa, Marv Youngblut of Jesup, Al (Kathy) Youngblut of Evansdale, Iowa; 4 sisters, Connie (Carl) Kass of Independence, Jackie Kresser, Sandy (Lonnie) Even, and Gin (Bart) Vogel, all of Jesup; two sisters – in – law, Linda Youngblut of Jesup, Iowa and Mary Youngblut, of Independence and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Pint, Kale Richard Johnson, and Ray Joseph Johnson; 3 brothers, Lavern Youngblut in infancy, Donald Youngblut, and LeRoy Youngblut; also, 1 brother – in – law, Robert Kresser.
