Independence – Daniel E. Claypool, III, 71 years old, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at his home in Independence, Iowa, following a long illness. He was born on October 23, 1939, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Daniel Edward and Goldie (Sorenson) Claypool, II. He graduated from Humbolt High School in St. Paul, Minnesota. On March 26, 1970, he and the former Phyllis Elaine Spece were married in Galena, Illinois. She preceded him in death in 2005. Mr. Claypool was a semi-truck driver for a while, but mainly, he was a plumber. He never went anyplace without his tools. When not working, he could usually be found in his garage tinkering with something for a project.
Mr. Claypool is survived by 1 daughter, Candice (Donald) Clontz and 1 son, Lee Claypool, both of Independence, Iowa. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Dustin Shonka and Rachel Claypool, and 1 brother, Sam Claypool of St. Paul, Minnesota.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Daniel E. Claypool IV, 3 sisters, 1 half sister, and 1 brother.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Mr. Justin Sulzner officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.
Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 5th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
