White Funeral Home GILBERTVILLE - John E. “Jack” Reuter, 76 years old, of Gilbertville, IA, died Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Care Initiatives’ La Porte City Specialty Care facility. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilbertville with burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Raymond, IA. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a rosary said by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will also be 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2025, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a rosary said by the Catholic Order of Foresters at 3:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services, Tuesday, at the church in Gilbertville. Memorials will be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Bosco System in Gilbertville and to other charities. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com. Jack was born John Eugene Reuter on March 4, 1949, in Black Hawk County, IA, the son of Harold William Reuter and Jeanne Helene (Steimel) Reuter. He attended Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville and graduated with the class of 1967. On April 22, 1972, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Ann Vogel in Gilbertville. They made their home in Elk Run Heights, IA, until they moved to the family farm around 1984. He owned and operated Jack Reuter Construction until retiring from construction in 2009. He also loved farming, which he continued until 2021, when his declining health prevented him from continuing. Jack was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters in Gilbertville; also, Knights of Columbus in Jesup and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Waterloo, IA. He enjoyed being with family and friends, traveling, farming and building homes. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and he and Kathy rarely missed any event they participated in. Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathy Reuter of Gilbertville; one son, Jason (Jennifer) Reuter of Jesup; two daughters, Kelly (Todd) Rosonke of Jesup, and Jackie (Brian) White of Independence, IA; also, 6 grandchildren, John (Breanne), Luke, Kaitlyn, Natalie, Kayla and Brielle; one sister, Janice Brettmann of Denver, IA; one brother, Ronald (Carol) Reuter of Waverly, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul Reuter in infancy; one brother-in-law, Jerald Brettmann; and his niece Cheryl Reuter. White Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. |
