INDEPENDENCE – Angela Jill Phillips, 62 years old of rural Independence, IA, died Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA.

No public services are planned.

Angela was born September 18, 1962, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Donald Edward Franke and LaVonne Dorothy (Hartson) Franke. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1981. On February 20, 1982, she was united in marriage to Timothy Joe Phillips at St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup, IA. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her boys, grandson, and dogs.

Angela is survived by her husband, Tim Phillips; two sons, Cody Phillips of Raymond, IA, and Cole Phillips of Jesup, IA; also one grandson Riley; and one sister, Terri (Jerry) Winkey of Evansdale, IA. Her parents preceded her in death.
