Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24th at White Funeral Home in Independence and for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will begin 11:00 a.m. – Friday, April 25, 2025, at White Funeral Home in Independence, followed by burial at Wilson Cemetery. Irene Roepke was born on July 23, 1922, near La Porte City, IA, the daughter of William Richard Axtell and Nellie Madeline (Lane) Axtell. She attended schools in Dunkerton and Reinbeck and eventually received her GED from Independence High School. She was united in marriage to Glen M. Robinson on January 3, 1941, they later divorced. On September 30, 1946, she married Bernard C. Hall, who passed away on November 22, 1970. On August 26, 1972, she married Carl M. Roepke who passed away on August 5, 1982. She worked at the Mental Health Institute until she retired on March 31, 1984. Irene was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Independence, and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. Irene is survived by two daughters, Glenda (Marvin) Clark of Vinton, IA, Darlene Payton of Independence, IA; four sons, David Hall of Independence, IA, William (Marge) Hall of Littleton, IA, Robert Hall of Independence, IA, Roger (Kayla) Hall of Oelwein, IA; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; three sons in infancy; two great grandchildren, Charlie Lewis, Erica Sue Lewis; five brothers, Bill Axtell, Melton Axtell, Art Axtell, George Axtell, Boyd Axtell; one sister, Dorothy McKinney; two daughters-in-law, Sherry Hall and Ruth Hall.
