White Funeral Home JESUP - Dwayne Anthony McGill, 82 years old, of Jesup, IA, died Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at UnityPoint – Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, IA, following a sudden illness. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup, with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a parish rosary said at 3:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services, Wednesday, at the church. Dwayne was born August 12, 1942, in rural Independence, IA, the son of Wayne LeRoy McGill and Marie Agnes Wieser. He graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1961. On November 4, 1961, he married Sherry Eileen Clark at St. John Catholic Church in Independence. The couple would later divorce. Dwayne worked at John Deere and farmed with his father for a number of years. After 31 years, he retired from John Deere on August 31, 1994. He was formerly a member of St. John Catholic Church in Independence and currently a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup. Dwayne loved to stay active and be with his family. He had a positive attitude and was always helping other people. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and racing. He was a big fan of NASCAR and loved watching and helping his son, Brett, at the stock car races. He always hosted Christmas at his house and was ready to serve his famous ‘lil whiskey smokies. He looked forward to getting together with his neighborhood coffee club and in his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and building furniture. Dwayne was very thoughtful, especially when it came to sending greeting cards to others. He would always find the right card for the occasion, and he never missed a birthday. Dwayne’s family was his priority as he loved spending time following his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities. All around, he was a guy to look up to. Dwayne is survived by three sons, Chris (Wendy) McGill of Independence, IA, Randall (Tina) McGill of Hutchinson, MN, and Jason McGill of Independence, IA; 12 grandchildren, Renee McGill, Rick McGill, Trevor McGill, Josh McGill, Matt McGill, Macee McGill, Kaleb McGill, Braeden McGill, Averie McGill, Austin Cartwright, Haylee Frush, and Corbin Frush; 7 great grandchildren; one sister Linda (John) Borrett of Cape Coral, FL; one brother, Dean (Gwen Decker) McGill of Independence, IA; one sister-in-law, Mary McGill; and one daughter-in-law, Judy McGill, of Independence. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brett McGill; two brothers, Randy McGill in infancy and Gary McGill; and one daughter-in-law, Carrie McGill. Memorials may be directed to Darrell E.
