INDEPENDENCE – Jean Ann Morris, 73 years old, of Independence, IA, died Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.

Jean was born August 31, 1951, in Independence, IA, the daughter of Arthur Frederick Kennett and Violet Mae (Postel) Kennett. She attended school in Independence and grew up in town, right along the Wapsipinicon River. She worked for Triangle Plastics in Winthrop, Iowa, before retiring due to her health.

She was the best grandma and great grandma. Jean was the backbone of her family and would do anything for them. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her the will to live each day. Jean liked to read. Her favorite books were by Stephen King and Dean Koontz. She loved to craft, color, do crosswords, and watch the hummingbirds that came to her window every summer.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Nicole (Steve) Clausen of Independence, IA; her son, Travis (Kayla) Morris of Independence; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four sisters, Janis Thompson of Independence, IA, Jaynie Pint of Independence, IA, Joan Roscovius of Marion, IA, Jeannette Duffy of Fairbank, IA; one brother, Jerry Kennett of Cedar Rapids, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Jill Pint; and four brothers, Jim, John, Joe, and Jack Kennett.

There are no services scheduled at this time.
