BRANDON – Gladys Pauline Hertzberg, 90 years old, of rural Brandon, IA, died of natural causes, Thursday, January 16, 2025, at her home.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. – Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at White Funeral Home in Independence, IA. Burial will be in the Brandon Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 20th at White Funeral Home, Independence, and continue for an hour before services, Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Gladys Pauline was born September 22, 1934, in Benton County, IA, the daughter of Oscar Oliver Fish and Neomi (Smouse) Fish. She attended country school in the area and graduated from Brandon High School. On June 24, 1951, she was united in marriage to Howard Lorraine Hertzberg at the Church of Christ in Brandon, IA. He preceded her in death in 1997. Pauline liked being a housewife, but she was also content working outside the home. Over the years, she worked as a sales representative for different food brands, most recently serving samples and interacting with customers at Sam’s Club in Cedar Rapids, IA. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and going to church. She was a long-time member of the Church of Christ in Brandon.

Pauline is survived by her daughter-in-law, Veronica Hertzberg of Brandon, IA; brother-in-law, Robert (Marilyn) Hertzberg of Independence, IA; sister-in-law, LaVelle Wessels of Independence, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; her son, Michael Hertzberg; one brother, John Frederick “Fred” Fish; and three sisters, Rose Ultis, Doris Witmer, and Betty Nielsen.
