White Funeral Home JESUP - Louis Anton Johnson, 86 years old of Independence, IA, and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Monday, February 24, 2025, at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with burial at Littleton Cemetery, Littleton. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2025, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a Vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com. Louis was born October 23, 1938, in Chicago, IL, the son of Louis Edwin Johnson and Evelyn Alta (Halverson) Johnson. He attended Jesup Community Schools. On October 24, 1959, he was united in marriage to Anita Sue Terrones at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waterloo, IA. Louis worked for the Illinois Central and later the Canadian National Railroad. He retired as a Conductor on September 29, 2000, after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup, the Hook-in-Liner Club in Littleton, and the United Transportation Union. He and Sue enjoyed dancing and frequented the Coliseum in Oelwein. Louis also enjoyed hunting, fishing and an occasional “Miller Lite.” Louis is survived by his wife Sue of Independence; two sons, Mark (Dorothy) Johnson of Oelwein, Greg Johnson of Littleton; two grandsons, Justin (Tasha) Johnson of Oelwein, Joshua (Kyla) Johnson of Jesup; 6 greatgrandchildren; and one brother, Danny (Kathy) Johnson of Independence. His parents; one sister, Evelyn Close; and one great grandson, Jordan Louis Johnson, preceded him in death. White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, is in charge of the arrangements. |
