Private graveside services will be Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the West Prairie Cemetery, rural Walker, IA. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Lafayette Christian Church, Alburnett, IA. Linda was born July 14, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the daughter of Kenneth Marion Haskins and Elva Mary (Tufts) Haskins. She graduated from Cedar Rapids – Jefferson High School with the class of 1969 and continued her education at Kirkwood Community College. Life took her to California before she moved back home to Cedar Rapids. On April 17, 1976, she was united in marriage to John Thomas Ellickson in Cedar Rapids. Linda and John met at church, and their love grew from their common love of Christ. Linda enjoyed helping others. She worked in daycare and was a teacher’s aide at Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. She also worked at a health foods store, before she retired and became her mother’s caretaker. In the year 2000 they moved outside of Central City to their cabin and enjoyed being surrounded by nature. She was a member of the Lafayette Christian Church in Alburnett. Linda is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Ellickson of Central City, IA; two foster sons, Worku (Marta)Abebe of Ethiopia, Africa, Joshua (Angel) Bosco of Uganda, Africa; one sister, Joan (Don) Crippen of Cedar Rapids, IA; two nephews and a niece; and one sister-in-law, Sonya Riche of Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Richard Riche. Memorials may be directed to the church; and the family to help with the missions of John and Linda’s foster sons in Africa.
