CEDAR FALLS – Trevor J Harrison, 61 years old, of Cedar Falls, IA, and formerly of Independence, IA, died Saturday, November 23, 2024, in his home.

Celebration of Life Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024, at White Funeral Home in Independence, IA, followed by a light meal at Denali’s on the River in Independence.

Trevor was born on September 15, 1963, in Oskaloosa, IA, the son of James “Jim” E. and Leanne Kay (Fenner) Harrison. The family later moved to Independence, IA, where Trevor grew up and attended the Independence Community School District. Throughout high school, Trevor participated in both concert and marching band, worked the switchboard at People’s Memorial Hospital, and worked at Hess Pharmacy. In 1982, Trevor graduated high school and went on to attend Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA. He received his AA in computer science.

Trevor was married to Wendy Sue Boies of Independence, IA, from 1993 to 2012. They had one daughter, Zoe Lee Harrison, on March 21st, 1998. Trevor was co-owner of First Street Decorating in Independence, alongside his mother Leanne, from 1991 to 2004. He dispatched for Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department, Independence Police Department, Independence Fire Department, and all surrounding communities in Buchanan County for eighteen years. He later went on to dispatch for the Iowa State Patrol District #9 for another eighteen years, where he remained as the Communications Specialist II until his death.

Trevor was the life of every party, and a friend to everyone he met. He was heavily involved in his local community in Cedar Falls, and an extremely proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Trevor had a passion for his career as a public safety telecommunicator and was known as the calm voice on the other end of the line that many relied upon in the worst of times. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with friends, taking care of his mother Leanne’s lawn and garden, and a good cocktail.

He is survived by his daughter, Zoe Harrison of Independence, IA; and his mother, Leanne Harrison of Independence, IA. Trevor is preceded in death by his father, Jim Harrison, and his grandparents.
