Private family services will be held at a later date. Mable Alice Chase was born April 27, 1932, in Independence, IA, the daughter of Eugene Chase and Mabel Leta (Young) Chase. She received her education in Independence. On March 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to Keith Melvin Bantz in Independence. The couple made their home in Independence and Mable had an assortment of jobs throughout the years. She worked at Rath Packing in Waterloo, IA, as well as Isham’s Super Valu and Geater Machining and Manufacturing, in Independence. Mable was a great cook with a spicy attitude. She loved to fish on the Wapsipinicon River, and as an avid bowler, she always looked forward to the women’s bowling league nights. She enjoyed putting puzzles together and going to the casino. At Christmas time, she was the family bingo caller, often letting the grandkids win. Her family was the world to her. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence. Mable is survived by her 5 children, Steve (Nancy) Bantz, Keith (Anita) Bantz, Kevin (Joan) Bantz, Peggy Bantz, all of Independence, IA, and Teresa Bantz of Haysville, KS; 9 grandchildren, Tracey (Dorothy) Bantz, Barbara Bantz, Scott (Robin) Bantz, Jason (Mandy) Gleiter, Justin (Angie) Gleiter, Krista (Mickey) Gillie, Eric (Megan) Bantz, Kirby (Wayne) Holtzman, Stephanie (Paul) Kurt; 17 great grandchildren, Dalton, Craig, and Carson Bantz, Bryce, Brady, Bella, Paige, and Emma Gleiter, Emory Gillie, Lucas, Nora, and Leo Bantz, Piper, Sawyer, and Mavis Holtzman, Silas and Porter Kurt…with one on the way; also 1 sister, Jane DuMond of Haysville, KS; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith; 1 brother, Eugene Chase; and 5 sisters, Arlene Rathbun, Thelma Magee, Virginia Rathbun, Ruth Kurt, and Grace Taylor.
