INDEPENDENCE – Sharon Kay Brown, 88 years old, of Independence, IA, died of natural causes, Sunday, October 6, 2024, at La Porte City Specialty Care in La Porte City, IA.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. – Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, IA.

Sharon was born September 30, 1936, in New Hampton, IA, the daughter of Carl Frederick Kammeyer and Maryann (Simmons) Kammeyer. She graduated high school in Waterloo, IA, with the East High School class of 1955. She married Carl LaVerne Brown on June 5, 1959. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Sharon loved to bake and make divinity candy. She was a proud AVON customer, and she loved to have her nails done. Sharon also liked to visit and watch the Hallmark Channel. Not a day went by without The Golden Girls on T.V. She also liked motorcycles, especially Harley – Davidson motorcycles. She always loved to go for rides when she was able.

Sharon is survived by her two daughters, Jaci Weber and Bridget Hall, both of Independence, IA; four grandchildren, Scott (Sara) O’Connor, Suzanne O’Connor, Stephanie O’Connor, and Brent Brown; eleven great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; one brother, William “Bill” Kammeyer; and one son-in-law, Curtis Weber.
