Private family services will be at White Funeral Home, Independence, with burial at the Quasqueton Cemetery. Mary was born February 8, 1942, in rural Walker, IA, the daughter of Jack and Harriett Condon. After Jack died while Mary was young, Harriett’s second husband, A.V. Pisarik became, “Dad.” Mary graduated from high school in Jesup, IA, with the class of 1960. On June 24, 1961, she was united in marriage to Merlen Laska at the St. John Catholic Church in Independence, IA. Mary and Merlen made their home in Alburnett for more than 40 years, before moving to Iowa City to be closer to family. Mary retired as an inspector at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, IA, after a 30-year career with the company. She also owned and operated M&M Ceramics with her husband for 42 years. In her later years, Mary and Merlen enjoyed being snowbirds, wintering in Texas for eight winters. Mary enjoyed flowers, sight-seeing, taking photos, and going to casinos. She was a former member of St. John Catholic Church in Independence. Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, Merlen Laska of Iowa City, IA, and formerly of Alburnett; three children, Sheryl (Daris) Rawson of Troy Mills, IA, Kevin (Stephanie) Laska of Cedar Rapids, IA, Lisa Zimmerman of Iowa City, IA; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; two brothers, Richard (Joyce) Pisarik of Centerville, IA, David (Karen) Pisarik of Marion, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Condon; her mom and dad, Harriett and A.V. Pisarik; one son, Darin Laska in infancy; one grandson, Garrett Laska; two brothers, Ralph (Darlene) Condon, Leon Condon; and one son-in-law, Dallas Zimmerman.
