INDEPENDENCE – Bernice EILEEN Williamson, 103 years old of Hot Springs Village, AR, and formerly of Independence and Williamsburg, Iowa, died Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Belvedere Nursing and Rehab Center in Hot Springs, AR.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. – Friday, October 4, 2024, at the White Funeral Home, Independence, IA, with burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials will be directed to First United Methodist Church, Independence or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Eileen was born February 24, 1921, in Clay County, IA, on a farm near Rossie, IA, the daughter of Morten Almer Mortenson and Maude (Hughes) Mortenson. She graduated from high school in Linn Grove, IA, and attended Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines, IA, for one year. On August 2, 1943, she was united in marriage to Gene Edward Williamson at the Methodist parsonage in Manchester, IA. Eileen was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence and was a longtime employee at Security State Bank in Independence before retirement. She volunteered in her spare time working with the Buchanan County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and Peoples Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Eileen is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Jim) Piersol of Hot Springs Village, AR; three grandchildren, Mike (Michelle) Piersol of Williamsburg, IA, David (Vanessa) Piersol of Las Vegas, NV, Lynn (Todd) Gimian of Las Vegas, NV, also six great grandchildren, Hannah Piersol, Andrew Piersol, Finley Piersol, Arlo Piersol, Hayden Gimian, Sawyer Gimian; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene in 1996; her parents; and four brothers, Arnold, Ellis, Harold, and Bernard Mortenson.
