BRANDON – Dixie L. Joens, 78 years old, of Brandon, IA, died Friday, September 20, 2024, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center – West Campus in Independence, IA.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. – Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Brandon Cemetery, Brandon, IA.

Dixie was born September 25, 1945, in Anamosa, IA, the daughter of Frank Lee Bumgarner and Ruby Loraine (Ireland) Bumgarner. On May 20, 1966, she was united in marriage to George Joens, Jr. in Caledonia, MN. They have made their home in Brandon since 1966.

Dixie is survived by her husband, George of Brandon; three sons, Aaron (Susan) Joens of Waterloo, IA, Robert (Cindy) Joens of Gilmore City, IA, Jeffrey (Donita) Joens of Decorah, IA; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Dyna; 2 brothers, Rocky and Darrin.

Her parents; and three brothers, Keith, Jim and Bill Bumgarner, preceded her in death.
