White Funeral Home JESUP - Nevamae L. Erpelding, 88 years old, of Jesup, IA, died of natural causes, Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at UnityPoint - Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, IA. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Monday, September 9, 2024, at the American Lutheran Church in Jesup, IA, with burial at Old Barclay Cemetery, rural Jesup. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 8, 2024, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, and will continue for an hour before services, Monday, at the church. Nevamae Lois Beving was born February 4, 1936, on the farm at Ackley, IA, in rural Grundy County, the daughter of Arthur D. Beving and Evelyn A. (Schultz) Beving. She graduated from high school in Ackley with the class of 1954 and continued her education at Gates Business School in Waterloo, where she met Wendell. On December 27, 1955, she was united in marriage to Wendell Paul Erpelding at East Friesland Presbyterian Church in Ackley. They made their home on Erpelding farm north of Jesup, where they raised their family and made countless memories. Neva was a farm wife and helped at all aspects of the farm, including milking cows for 20+ years. She also was a special education paraprofessional at Jesup Community School as well as a school bus monitor, riding along as Wendell drove the bus for many years. Neva loved going to her grandchildren’s activities and being with her family. She made wonderful pies and enjoyed putting puzzles together. She also enjoyed playing cards with the card group, oftentimes playing 500. She was disciplined in her daily devotions and was an active member of the American Lutheran Church in Jesup. Neva is survived by her husband of 68 years, Wendell Erpelding; two daughters, Brenda (Clyde) Schmit and Teresa (Randy) Merkel, all of Jesup, IA; son-in-law, Tom (Kathy) Soppe of Jesup, IA; eight grandchildren, Brandy Furler, Brad Schmit, Casey Schmit, Jared Merkel, Tricia George, Adam Soppe, Erica Reed, and Amy Faulkner; fifteen great grandchildren, with one due in October; one sister, Ethel Ann Koch of Cedar Falls, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Warren Erpelding; one daughter, Connie Soppe; her brothers, Duane Beving and Russell Beving; her brother-in-law, Karl Koch; and two nephews, Kirk Koch and John Beving. In lieu of flowers memorials will be directed to Camp Courageous, Jesup Ambulance Association, and the Jesup Library Association.
