INDEPENDENCE – John Allen Wilson, 67 years old of Independence, IA, died Wednesday, August 25, 2024, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center – West Campus in Independence.

Family graveside services will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence, IA.

John was born February 14, 1957, in Independence, IA, the son of James Edward Wilson and Thelma Byrdine “Connie” (McCalley) Wilson. He attended school in Independence with the class of 1975 and later received his GED in 1981. John joined the Army in 1975, and following his discharge he headed west to California. On February 14, 1978, he married Shelley Anne Steinman in San Francisco. She preceded him in death. John worked at Northrop Grumman in Palmdale, CA, from 1997 – 2006. He was proud to have been involved with the B-2 Bomber program.

John is survived by three brothers, Gary (Judy) Wilson of Independence, Kenneth (Peggy) Wilson of Avenal, CA, and Mark (Jan) Wilson of Center Point, IA; one sister, Glenda (Jim Boyland) Wilson of Mesa, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his wife, Shelley; one brother, Donald Wilson and one sister Gloria Cashen.
